Choosing the bowl

Stainless steel costs a little more, does not scratch the way plastic does, and wipes properly clean. Plastic is lighter and cheaper. If your cat is fussy about its bowl, steel is usually the one to try.

Care

Wash before first use and rinse after every meal. Bowls that are only rinsed once a day build up a film, which is the usual reason a fussy cat stops using one.
