Getting a cat to use it
Start with the opening set wide and a generous amount of food inside, so your cat gets a result almost immediately and learns what the toy does. Narrow it once they have the idea. A puzzle feeder that is too hard on day one just gets ignored.
Feed part of the daily ration through it rather than giving extra on top — the point is to make a meal take longer, not to add another one.

Using it safely
The feather wand on top is the part cats destroy. Check it before each session, replace it once it is chewed, and take the toy away rather than letting a cat pull the last of a feather off — swallowed feathers and string cause blockages.
Care
Empty out any food left in it and wash weekly in warm soapy water. Dry fully before refilling.
